Banking
Penn Security Bank acquired the former Kingston Post Office and renovated it into its Luzerne County headquarters. In collaboration with the PA Historic and Museum Commission, the work restored the building’s original window design and maintained an important interior mural dedicated to Wyoming Valley’s coal mining history. The Post Office leased a portion of the building to maintain its presence in the west side community.

The former Postal Workers’ Credit Union headquarters was modernized to reflect the changing demographics of its members and the community at large. The project included a series of additions and renovations to ‘shroud’ the original structure. A complex construction phasing plan allowed the office to remain open to customers through the entire process.

The Credit Union’s first stand-alone branch was designed and constructed on a tiny corner lot with high traffic visibility along US Route 11. The building floor plan shape was dictated by parking and drive-up lanes. The aesthetic combines a light, glazed storefront on the front with a modest brick portion along the rear, residential neighborhood street.

Vantage Trust Federal Credit Union was founded to serve US veterans with its primary financial center located at the Wilkes-Barre VA Hospital. The Credit Union’s first branch, located in Pittston, was designed to evoke the red, white and blue honorably worn by our US military veterans.

First National Bank, located on Highland Park Blvd., Wilkes-Barre Twp., was originally planned for Guaranty Bank. Based on the bank president’s vision, it is designed to resemble Monticello by Thomas Jefferson, which has been considered an icon of American architecture. The building now services customers across the Wyoming Valley.

MotorWorld Lexus and Mercedes Benz in Wilkes-Barre, PA is proud to be an automotive leader in our area, with a firm commitment to our customers. In 2018, Motorwold underwent additions to the automall for new Lexus and Mercedes Benz showrooms and drive-up canopies. The work included close coordination with the national brand architects for the two luxury manufacturers.

Borton-Lawson was proud to be among the recipients of the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber’s Pride of Place award. The ENR 500 engineering firm embarked on a major renovation design of 20,000 square feet professional offices. The design led by Endler enhanced the firm’s technology image, project workflow and employee retention/attraction goals. Highlights include a variety of collaboration spaces, training room and sit-stand desks for all employees.

The ENR 500 engineering firm expanded its Pittsburgh region footprint with a 5,000 square feet professional office in a new Wexford building. The design expands on the vision established in its Wilkes-Barre headquarter by highlighting technology, optimizing workflow and attracting/retaining employees.

Electric City Harley-Davidson® in Scranton, PA saw impressive growth in the early 2000’s. It acquired property and developed a 12,500 SF facility with top of the line service equipment and Harley-Davidson certified technicians. The facility makes unique use of pre-engineered metal building options for a significant but cost-effective solution.

Community
The Hoyt Library is a long-standing community center and resource for the Wyoming Valley’s West Side. The building suffered a significant roof collapse and used the opportunity to significantly expand the facility. The addition and renovation provides a light-filled community, reading and stack area linked to the original historic structure. The library expansion in Kingston was designed by Casaccio Architects and Borton-Lawson.

Government
The Honesdale Readiness Center addition and renovations occurred to the existing National Guard facility. The $10M project included a new access road, educational facility, fitness center, maintenance garage, commercial kitchen, emergency generator, and water tank. The LEED-like facility was developed by the PA Department of General Services in association with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA).

The Geisinger Orwigsburg MOB is 16,000 square feet office building, constructed to replace multiple, smaller facilities. The clinic includes adult and pediatric exam areas, on-site lab, and pharmacy. The facility brought more dependable care, including specialists, to this largely rural community.

The Geisinger Mountain Top MOB is a 20,000 square feet new office building that replaced functions in multiple locations. The new facility included separate adult and pediatric examination areas, an on-site lab, pharmacy and Careworks facility. The design includes key Geisinger standards such as exam room design, exterior aesthetic and covered patient drop-off area.

Whitestone Care Center has served the community of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania since 2011. The facility boasts state-of-the-art amenities including 24-hour care services, long and short-term care, inpatient physical therapy, and occupational and speech therapies.

Higher-Ed
As part of the $8 million investment for new athletic fields at Ralston Athletic Complex, Wilkes University’s field improvements included a multi-purpose turf field for men’s and women’s soccer and lacrosse and women’s field hockey. It also included a new turf baseball field.

The PSU-WB campus leadership sought to place renewed emphasis on career services for student attraction and retention. The design leveraged the infrastructure and side view of an existing recreation building to place a new ‘front door’ on the campus. The addition of less than 1,000 square feet made a big impact with a small footprint.

An addition to house expanded and modernized locker facilities creates efficiencies for students using the remote athletic facility. The 2,000 square feet addition blends seamlessly with the existing fieldhouse. It also provides additional space for team meetings and modern lockers and amenities.

The University created a centralized business school by relocating facilities from multiple locations to the University Center on Main (UCOM). The re-purposed facility boasts collaborative-style office suites for faculty, diverse lecture halls and a Wall Street-style ‘stock trading room.’

The University acquired a 14,000 square feet, former commercial facility to adjoin its new campus Gateway. The $4M renovation enabled the co-location of the award-winning communications studies programs including the Beacon student newspaper, WCLH Radio, Wilkes Now TV, speech and debate team, and Zebra Communications public relations functions. An addition was also constructed as a modern home for the Sordoni Art Gallery. Housing these co-curricular activities under one roof provides tremendous opportunity for students to collaborate.

K-12 education
The $15M project includes an addition for 300 7th and 8th grade students. It also includes a significant renovation to the existing, 900-student K-6 building. The design was completed but the project was not constructed.

The stadium complex includes a synthetic athletic surface, eight-lane track, and seating for 5,000 spectators. The complex also includes a new locker facility, concession/restroom facility and maintenance building. The $12M facility is slated for a 2022 opening.

Established in 2000, the Pleasant Valley Intermediate School (PVI) serves students in grades 4-6 in a rural setting between Gilbert and Kresgeville. The District developed PVI to address increasing enrollment pressure as the Pocono community experienced significant growth. The unique design led by Endler, was designed by Quad Three Group, Inc.

The Keystone Central School District is the largest geographic district in the state of Pennsylvania, covering municipalities in parts of Clinton, Centre, and Potter Counties. The District developed a combined 9-12 high school to provide students across the District with equal educational and extra-curricular opportunities.
